About the company
The Polish Baltic Philharmonic named after Fryderyk Chopin is a philharmonic hall in Gdańsk, located on Ołowianka Island. The institution was founded in 1945 as the Municipal Symphony Orchestra. Its home is in historic buildings of a former municipal power station, which were reconstructed and expanded. The philharmonic and opera operated as a single institution until 1993, when they were finally separated.
The programme includes classical and popular music concerts, including rock and pop, as well as musical performances and shows. The venue hosts soloists, bands and choirs, concerts celebrating well-known artists, and stand-up comedy.
