Państwo Snu

Państwo Snu is a dramatic play directed by Michał Kmiecik, based on Alfred Kubin’s novel “Po tamtej stronie,” presented on the Main Stage of Wrocławski Teatr Współczesny im. Marii i Edmunda Wiercińskich in Wrocław. The cast includes Mariusz Bąkowski, Zina Kerste, Anna Kulińska-Kieca, Maciej Kowalczyk and Przemysław Kozłowski.

Alfred Kubin was an artist and writer regarded as a precursor of surrealism. “Po tamtej stronie” is his only novel, and the play is based on it. Its protagonist, a draftsman, receives an invitation to settle in the mysterious Państwo Snu at the foot of the Himalayas, where those who do not fit into the modern world can pursue their dreams. The production asks whether life in a world without progress will live up to its inhabitants’ expectations.

The play may appeal to people looking for dramatic theatre and stories inspired by surrealism. Tickets are available through KupBilecik.
